An overnighter in Sligo was planned and 3 beds were booked in the HARBOUR HOUSE HOSTEL
We met up at the KFC at 9am and the weather wasn't looking good and as we headed off on the scenic route to Sligo via Armagh, Monaghan, Clones, Lough Allen and Lough Gill it started to rain
A coffee break in Mc Donalds in Monaghan and a hand shaking from some dick who wants to be the President then a run towards Clones seen us taking a detour off the main route (due to roadworks) along a very muddy road.
The road along the east side of lough Allen was a surprise, nice twisty road with a decent surface ;D
Short coffee break on the shores of lough Gill near Sligo and of course this is when the rain stopped.
Harbour House Hostel
The hostel is in the harbour area, strangely enough ;D and a short 15 minute stumble into the centre of Sligo, a very nice old house with comfortable surroundings.
We managed to get put into the family room which had a double bed & two bunk beds with ensuite toilet & shower and a view over the bikes parked in the private carpark ;D and the beds were very comfortable.
Sligo town centre is a pretty lively place with plenty of bars and food outlets, although it doesn't come to life until after 10pm on a Saturday night, although I do not remember much after 1am.
Next morning seen us up bright and early and getting tucked into the free breakfast
Todays route will take us through Donegal to Slieve League to Glenties to Straban and Plumbridge, the weather was kind and we only got caught in a couple of rain showers
Some photos of the stop at Slieve League
A great wee trip away, sharing a few Guinness and having an enjoyable ride
